Building a Yahoo-style 3D button |
| Let's see another kind of button: a similar Yahoo-style 3D button. Ok, first of all create a new image, 200x200 pixels 16 millions of colors, background color white and foreground color black. Then, select the selection tool (shape: circle) and draw a circular selection, so:
Now select the flood fill tool and set the fill style to Linear Gradient. Click on the 'Options' button and set the direction to 135 degree:
Select the selection tool again and draw another smaller circle inside of the first one. Then set the foreground color to white and choose a background color. Now select the flood fill tool again, set 'Match Mode' to 'None', 'Tolerance' to '0', Fill style to 'Sunburst Gradient'. Click on the 'Options' button and set 'Vertical' to '25%' and 'Horizontal' to '25%'. Now, filling the inner selection, you will get this:
Finally, click on 'Image' choose 'Resize' and set Width to 50 and Height to 50 pixels. Now select the dropper tool and pick up the background color (white), in order to know the index of that color (it will appear on the right side of the PaintShop window) then click on 'Colors' and choose 'Set Palette Transparency'. Now select 'Set the transparency value to palette entry' and fill this field with the index that you picked up with the dropper tool. This is just an example:
(You can build this button using Paintshop Pro, but if your favorite graphics program is another one, say Photoshop, you can get the same image using almost the same techniques. In this case, there is very little difference between Paintshop and Photoshop. In fact if you use Photoshop you have to select the linear gradient tool instead of the flood fill tool. After selecting it, you have to place it inside of the selection using your mouse). |
