What's Trickle


TRICKLE provides an alternative to FTP. It distribute files on request or by subscription. Commands are sent by electronic mail.

Using Trickle


You have to send commands in the text of message, one command per line (the angle brackets '<>' are part of the command, not optional parameters).

directory listings

/PDDIR
/PDDIR <name_of_directory>
/PDDIR <name_of_directory.name_of_subdirectory>name_of_file
/PDDIR without any parameters will shows the root directory. You can use wildcards: "?" matches any single character, "*" matches any number of characters.

getting files

/PDGET <name_of_directory>name_of_file (mode

Mode specifies the format to which the file(s) should be translated before being sent to you. The possible values are: EBC80, UUE, XXE, HEX, BTOA. Wildcards "?" and "*" are allowed.

subscribing to directories or to individual files

/SUB <name_of_directory>
/SUB <name_of_directory.name_of_subdirectory>file_name
/SUB QUERY
If you subscribe to a directory, you will receive a list of files which have been added to it. If you subscribe to a file, TRICKLE will send you a new version of the file as soon as available on its FTP site. Wildcards are not allowed.
Unsubscribing
/UNSUB <name_of_directory>
/UNSUB <name_of_directory.name_of_subdirectory>keyword
Use this command to terminate all your directory and file subscriptions.

Use this command to get a detailed help file.

Examples

/PDDIR <MSDOS.VIRUS>

To show the files in the VIRUS subdirectory of MSDOS.

/PDGET <MSDOS.VIRUS>00-INDEX.TXT ( UUE

To get the file 00-INDEX.TXT from <MSDOS.VIRUS> in UUENCODED format.
