About Privacy |
Every time you are surfing on the net or you are posting e-mails or you are getting files by FTP, in other words, every time you are on the net, someone can 'look' you.
Every time you travel on the Internet, you leave some 'trails'. Most services keep log of all visits, so they can know your user-id, your network address, your operating system, what browser you are using and so on.
In addition, any server can send you a 'cookie'. What's a cookie? Well, a cookie is a piece of data stored in your computer (if you are using Netscape browser, search for cookies.txt in your hard disk) where some information about you are written. So, for example, any server can know what sites have you visited previously simply reading the cookie you have on you hard disk! In other words, anyone can know more - too much - about you.
And what about your e-mails? Well, if you send un-encrypted e-mails, everyone can read them...And then? Well, there are some tools and services to take care about your privacy.
