Boot floppy

If your PC was infected, you have to use a 'boot' floppy to check it. You have to scan memory and hard disk in order to find viruses and remove them. But if your PC was infected, obviously you can't use your favourite antivirus saved in your hard disk, because it could be infected! So you have to use a boot floppy. In order to make a floppy disk bootable, you have to follow these steps:

If you are using Win95, go to Dos (restart the system and just before starting Win95, press F8 key)
You are on Dos? Ok, the next step is: 'format a: /s' (hey, you have to put a floppy inside the drive! Warning: I said 'a:', not 'c:'!) In this way, you are saying to Dos: 'format this floppy and put systems files into'. Done? Ok, now copy 'command.com', 'format.com', 'fdisk.exe' to your floppy. If you are using Windows you have to get these files from 'c:\windows\command' directory; if you are using MSDos, you have to get them from 'c:\dos' directory. Done? Ok, then copy your favourite antivirus' files...
Label this floppy (update it often with new antivirus releases)
Disable writing on floppy by switching its spline! (you should see both holes)
Now your boot floppy is ready. To use it turn off your computer, put it in its drive and then turn on your computer again.
