You can turn off Windows animations while minimizing windows easily. As usual you have to edit the Windows registry:
1) go to Start -> Run
2) type regedit
3) go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Control panel -> Desktop -> WindowMetrics
4) right click WindowMetrics and select New -> String Value
5) name it 'MinAnimate' (do not change small letters and capital letters)
6) type '0' in the Value Data field ('1' to turn it on again)
You are done!
WARNING: the Windows' registry is the heart of Windows: you will be in *TROUBLE* if you damage it! Your computer could be temporarily unavailable! So, before editing it, please make sure you have a backup copy of it. Refer to this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/en-us to know more about the Windows' registry backup procedure
