23/02/2006 - 20:04 (Category: Windows) You can speed up the Start Menu editing the Windows' Registry. Just follow these simple steps: 1) click the Start button 2) click on 'Run' (if you are really lazy, just press Win + 'R', where 'Win' is the Windows button and 'R' stands for 'run') 3) type 'regedit' and press Return (regedit is the Windows' registry editor) 4) go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Control Panel -> Desktop 5) right-click the String Value 'MenuShowDelay', and select Modify 6) change its value accordingly (the default value is '400' milliseconds: you can decrease it to '0' if you like) 6) press OK, close the registry editor 7) disconnect and reconnect (or restart Windows) WARNING: the Windows' registry is the heart of Windows: you will be in *TROUBLE* if you damage it! Your computer could be temporarily unavailable! So, before editing it, please make sure you have a backup copy of it.
