As you already know, you can save any web page as a PDF file, but what if you wanted to save a selected portion of that page only? It is a really simple job:
1) go to the web page you want to save from
2) highlight any piece of text of that web page
3) press Command-C to copy it to the clipboard
4) open TextEdit
5) press Command-V to paste the selected text
6) press Command-Shift-S to save the selected text. If you selected a piece of text only, choose 'HTML'. In case you selected both text and images, choose 'Web archive'
7) now open the HTML saved file with Safari
8) press Command-P and click on the PDF button. Now click on 'save as PDF'
Notice that you can remove the 'file:///Users/...' text at the bottom of the result page:
1) after pressing Command-P, click on the third item ('Copies and Pages' or something like that) from the resulting dialog box
2) select 'Safari'
3) uncheck the checkbox next to 'Print web page information in headers and footers'
4) click on the PDF button. Now click on 'save as PDF'
You are done. Enjoy!
