13/12/2005 - 21:32 (Category: Mac Os X) A little trick that works great in Windows and in Mac Os X, of course: navigating folders with letter keys in Finder. Open the Finder and press Command-N in order to get a new Finder window. Then hit any letter key: the Finder will highlight the item whose name starts with the pressed key. In other words, if you hit 'a' the Finder will highlight the first folder whose name starts with 'a', if you hit 'b' the Finder will highlight the first folder whose name starts with 'b' and so on. A nicer trick: hit two letter keys fast enough to get the first item whose name starts with the two pressed keys! It works with 2, 3 and more pressed keys. Even better: hit the needed letter keys to highlight any item you wish, then press Command-Down Arrow. Do you know what? You will open/launch the highlighted item! Then press Command-Up Arrow and you will go back. Last but not least, you can expand/collapse folders by pressing right and left arrow keys. Go back
