If you enabled AppleShare (Personal File Sharing), you also enabled guest access by default. Don't panic: you can still disable guest access by editing a plist file:
1) open Terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.app)
2) type cd ~/Library/Preferences
3) type sudo pico com.apple.AppleFileSharing.plist
Once entered, search for 'guestAccess'. You will see this:
<key>guestAccess</key>
<true/>
now replace 'true' with 'false'. Beware: make a backup copy of the plist file before editing it (in case something goes wrong). I'm not sure whether Tiger is affected by this vulnerability
