You can use Expose' for drag and drop purposes. For example, you could select a photo in the Finder to attach to an e-mail or vice versa:

1) open the Finder and select the file or files that you want to drag and drop
2) begin dragging the file
3) while continuing to hold down the mouse button, press F9 (to activate Expose')
4) while continuing to hold down the mouse button, select any window or document by moving the mouse pointer over it
5) release the mouse button to complete the operation

Notice that you can select any window or folder by hovering the mouse pointer over any window or document for a moment (if you are in a hurry, press the space bar)
