You can rename any file just clicking on its name: wait one second and you will prompted for a new name. Anyway you can take advantage of a little trick to rename multiple files quickly:
1) Run the Finder
2) Set the views option as 'List view'
3) Click on the header as 'Date modified' to sort the list by *any* field *other than 'Name'* (you need that to prevent the file list from sorting again after each rename operation)
4) Click on the first file to be renamed then press Return (that will open the rename box)
5) Type any name you like then press Return again (to let the Finder to accept the new name)
6) Now press the down arrow key, in order to select the next file you would like to rename
7) Press Return again to type the new name
By pressing the down arrow key, you can rename as many files as you like
