24/09/2005 - 10:57 (Category: Windows) You can instruct Windows to force freezing applications shutdown on boot automatically. To achieve that you have to modfiy the Windows' registry. (Before updating the Windows' registry, you should make one backup copy of it). Click on 'START' -> 'Run' then type 'regedit' (the Windows' registry editor) Go to: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop Now click on that folder. Look at the window on the left: you have to select the AutoEndTasks key then right click to update it. At the prompt window you have to type '1' on the data field. You should be able to see the previous '0' value. If you can't see the AutoEndTasks key, you have to create it. To get your AutoEndTasks key, after selecting the HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop folder, you have to right click on the right side window. After right clicking you will get a pop-up menu. Select New -> String value and name itAutoEndTasks. Now you can right click on this new key to update it (adding the '1' value seen above). Go back
