If you are a Mac Os X user but you can live without the Windows-style desktop
trash icon, don't worry: you can get the trash icon on the desktop easily.

1) control-click on the desktop
2) create a new folder

3) control-click on the folder icon
4) create a new alias
5) rename it as 'trash'

6) apple-backspace on the previous created new folder (you need the alias only)

7) apple-i on the alias icon

You have to choose the original file to link to the alias. Now, instead of scrolling the bar to choose the original file, just press:

apple-shift-G

a prompt window will pop up.

Now enter:

/Users/your_home_folder/.Trash

You are done. The trash icon is there: on the desktop!

('your_home_folder' is your home folder name. For example, my home folder
is 'mau' so: /Users/mau/.Trash)

One next trick will show you how to change the just created trash folder with the real trash icon.
